Coastal communities obviously rely heavily on tourism to stimulate the local economy. Here in Wilmington beach season and attractions downtown contribute to a large portion of our job market. During the past 2 years we have all seen what the economic situation has done to our neighbors and country. The good news is that North Carolina is one of the few states that has shown progress in the leisure and hospitality job sector. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor statistics show that North Carolina has added 26,000 jobs in the past 5 years, coming third to the much larger states of Texas and New York. Once again North Carolina has proven to be a state with great opportunities, diverse job market, and a positive trend towards economic growth.
